A single screwdriver at Bab Al-Saif is 0.250 KD, a 6-piece set is 2.750 KD, and loose bits are 0.150 KD each. What decides which one you need is not the price, it is the tip: slotted, Phillips, Pozidriv, hex or Torx. Get that wrong and the driver turns in the screw head instead of turning the screw.
This page sorts out the five tips, the sizes we list for each, and what every option costs today at our counter in Shuwaikh. Every figure is read from the product's own record.
The five tips, and how to tell them apart
Hold the screw up and look at the recess in its head. That shape names the driver you need.
| Tip | The recess in the screw head | Sizes we list | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slotted, also called flat or minus | One straight slot | 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm and 7 mm bits; 4.0, 5.5 and 6.5 mm driver blades | Single drivers from 0.250 KD |
| Phillips, also called cross or plus | A cross with tapered, rounded corners | PH0, PH1, PH2, PH3 | Single drivers from 0.250 KD; bits from 0.150 KD |
| Pozidriv | A cross with four extra fine lines between the arms | PZ0, PZ1, PZ2, PZ3 | Only in the 26-piece bit set, 3.500 KD |
| Hex, also called allen | A six-sided hole | 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm | Only in the 26-piece bit set, 3.500 KD |
| Torx, also called star | A six-pointed star | T6 to T9 in the precision set; T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30 and T40 as bits | Precision set 0.500 KD; bits 0.500 KD each |
Phillips and Pozidriv are the pair people mix up. A Phillips bit will sit in a Pozidriv screw and it will slip out under load, because only the Pozidriv bit touches those four extra lines. If the head has the extra lines, use PZ.
Single screwdrivers, by blade
These are the drivers sold one at a time. The number that matters on a slotted driver is the blade width, because a 4 mm blade in a 6.5 mm slot twists the metal rather than the screw.
| Driver | Blade | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Phillips screwdriver | 100 mm | 0.250 KD |
| Industrial screwdriver | 100 mm or 150 mm | 0.250 KD or 0.350 KD |
| Phillips screwdriver | 150 mm, 6 inch | 0.450 KD |
| Slotted screwdriver | 150 mm | 0.450 KD |
| Screwdriver, 6 inch | 6 inch | 0.450 KD |
| Screwdriver, 8 inch | 8 inch | 0.450 KD |
| Retractable mini, slotted and Phillips, magnetic | 6 inch, two tips in one body | 0.450 KD |
| Industrial slotted screwdriver | 4.0 x 100 mm, 5.5 x 100 mm or 6.5 x 1.2 x 150 mm | 0.500 KD, any of the three |
The last row is the useful one for anybody working on a fixed list of screws: three blade widths at one price, so you buy the width and not the size of the handle.
Sets, from 0.500 KD to 4.000 KD
| Set | What is in it | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Precision set, watch repair | T6, T7, T8 and T9 | 0.500 KD |
| 6-in-1 screwdriver | A number 1 and a number 2 Phillips bit, two sockets, double-sided bits | 0.750 KD |
| Insulated set, 5 pieces | Phillips 5 x 80 mm and 6 x 150 mm; slotted 3 x 75 mm, 4 x 100 mm and 5 x 125 mm | 1.350 KD |
| Precision ratchet set, 28 pieces | One ratchet screwdriver, 26 chrome-vanadium bits, one 105 mm bit holder | 1.500 KD |
| Industrial set, 4 pieces | Four drivers | 2.000 KD |
| Screwdriver set, 6 pieces | 45 carbon steel; 4, 5 and 6 inch at 6.3 mm in Phillips, and the same three in slotted | 2.750 KD |
| Bit set, 26 pieces | Ratchet handle, 60 mm bit holder, and 25 mm bits: slotted 4 to 7 mm, PH0 to PH3, PZ0 to PZ3, hex 2 to 6 mm, T10 to T40 | 3.500 KD |
| 14-in-1 ratchet screwdriver | One handle, fourteen tips, ratchet action | 4.000 KD |
If you buy one thing off this page, the 26-piece set at 3.500 KD is the one that covers all five tip families. It is the only set here whose record lists Pozidriv and hex.
Loose bits from 0.150 KD, and the length question
Bits are sold singly, which is how you replace the one that rounded off instead of the set it came from. Length matters more than people expect: a 25 mm bit goes in a bit holder or a driver handle, and a 65 mm or longer bit reaches down a recess that a short one cannot.
| Bit | 25 mm | 65 mm | 100 mm | 150 mm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PH1 | 0.150 KD | 0.250 KD | ||
| PH2, single sided | 0.150 KD | 0.250 KD | ||
| PH2, double sided | 0.500 KD | 0.750 KD | 1.000 KD | |
| PH2 with SL6 on the other end | 0.500 KD | 0.750 KD | ||
| PH3 | 0.150 KD | 0.250 KD | ||
| T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30, T40 | 0.500 KD |
All of those are the loose bit range. A separate 60 mm quick-release bit holder is 2.000 KD if you want to drive them from a drill chuck.
Electric and cordless
Three battery screwdrivers are listed, and the first two are sold as a driver plus a bit set in one box:
- Cordless screwdriver with a 55-piece bit set, 3.6 V, 4.950 KD
- Mini cordless screwdriver with a 28-piece bit set, 1500 mAh, 5.750 KD
- Cordless screwdriver, 4 V, two batteries, model ADPL04-5E, 9.500 KD
A 3.6 V or 4 V screwdriver is for furniture, electronics and switch plates, not for driving a 100 mm screw into a wall plug. For that you want a drill driver, and our guide to cordless drill prices in Kuwait covers those from 11.500 KD. A 250 W corded keyless drill driver sits between the two at 15.000 KD.
Three tips that are not in this range
People search for them here, so it is worth saying plainly rather than letting you drive across Shuwaikh to find out. No listing in the range states a square drive, a triangle or a tri-wing tip. What the range does carry is slotted, Phillips, Pozidriv, hex and Torx, in the sizes tabled above. For star drive with a handle you can put real force on, the 9-piece long-arm Torx key set is 1.250 KD and the extra-long version is 1.500 KD. Allen keys are a separate line inside hand tools, priced in our spanner, socket and allen key guide.
What a Kuwait household actually meets
- Flat-pack furniture usually needs hex, and often Pozidriv. The key in the box rounds off quickly; the 26-piece set at 3.500 KD has hex 2 to 6 mm and PZ0 to PZ3 in proper steel.
- Appliance and electronics covers are Torx. T10 to T40 at 0.500 KD a bit, and T6 to T9 in the 0.500 KD precision set for glasses, watch backs and phone cases.
- Switch plates and socket faces on a 220 V circuit are slotted, usually 4 mm or 5.5 mm. The 5-piece insulated set at 1.350 KD carries 3 x 75 mm, 4 x 100 mm and 5 x 125 mm slotted blades. Turn the breaker off first, the same as any other work on a live circuit.
- A flat in a tower and a villa want different lengths. A 150 mm blade reaches into a cabinet carcass or behind a cistern; a 100 mm one is easier in a kitchen unit with no room behind it.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a screwdriver in Kuwait?
A single driver is 0.250 KD for a 100 mm blade and 0.450 KD for 150 mm or 6 inch. A 6-piece set is 2.750 KD, a 26-piece bit set with a ratchet handle is 3.500 KD, and loose bits are 0.150 KD. See them all in screwdrivers.
What is a star screwdriver?
A Torx driver. The recess is a six-pointed star, and the sizes are written with a T: T6 to T9 in the 0.500 KD precision set, and T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30 and T40 as 65 mm bits at 0.500 KD each. The 9-piece long-arm Torx key set is 1.250 KD.
What is a Phillips screwdriver?
The cross-head driver. Sizes run PH0 to PH3, and PH2 fits most of the screws in a house. A 150 mm Phillips driver is 0.450 KD and a PH2 bit is 0.150 KD at 25 mm.
What is a flat or minus screwdriver?
The same thing as slotted: one straight blade for a single-slot screw. Buy it by blade width, not by handle size. We list 4.0 x 100 mm, 5.5 x 100 mm and 6.5 x 1.2 x 150 mm at 0.500 KD each, and a 150 mm slotted driver at 0.450 KD.
What size screwdriver do I need?
Match the tip family first, then the size inside that family. The tip should fill the recess with no rock in it. For a mixed house job, a 6-piece set at 2.750 KD covers 4, 5 and 6 inch at 6.3 mm in both slotted and Phillips.
What is a T8 screwdriver?
A Torx driver in size T8, which is one of the four in the 0.500 KD precision set, together with T6, T7 and T9. T8 turns up on games consoles, hard-drive cases and some appliance covers. The larger T10 upward are sold as 65 mm bits at 0.500 KD.
Do you have an electric screwdriver?
Three: a 3.6 V cordless screwdriver with a 55-piece set at 4.950 KD, a mini cordless screwdriver with a 28-piece set and a 1500 mAh cell at 5.750 KD, and a 4 V cordless screwdriver with two batteries at 9.500 KD.
What is a precision screwdriver set for?
Small Torx and small crosshead screws, the ones in glasses, watch backs, phone cases and remote controls. Ours is T6, T7, T8 and T9 at 0.500 KD. The 28-piece precision ratchet set at 1.500 KD adds a ratchet handle and a 105 mm holder.
What is the difference between Phillips and Pozidriv?
Pozidriv has four fine lines cut between the arms of the cross and parallel flanks, so the bit grips instead of climbing out. Phillips is tapered and will cam out of a Pozidriv screw. PZ0 to PZ3 are in the 26-piece bit set at 3.500 KD.
Next, read which screw you actually need for the fastener on the other end of the driver, what size spanner, socket and allen key for nuts and bolts, and what a home tool kit should contain if you are starting from nothing. The full range is in screwdrivers, hand tools and tool sets.
