The detail on each

• Strip-cut paper shredder — 12.000 KD. Up to 5 sheets at a time into 6.8 mm strips, a 220 mm throat and a 10 litre bin, running at 3.8 m per minute at around 70 dB. It weighs 1.6 kg, so it lifts onto a shelf with one hand. Duty cycle: 2 minutes of shredding, then 25 minutes to cool. That is the number to plan around — it is a desk shredder, not an office one.
• Desktop pop-up socket, 3 outlets — 11.950 KD. Three universal AC outlets plus one USB-A and one USB-C, rated 250 V, 15 A, IP44 against splashes and dust, with tamper-resistant shutters. Stainless steel and PC shell, black, and the same unit is made in silver, grey and gold. It flips up out of a cut-out rather than rising, so it needs less depth under the desk.
• Hydraulic pop-up socket, 4 outlets — 21.450 KD. Four universal AC outlets plus USB-A and USB-C, 115–250 V, 15 A, up to 2500 W, IP44, an aluminium panel and thick copper contacts, on a 1.5 m cable. The hydraulic lift is the difference: it rises and lowers smoothly instead of flipping, which is why it goes in conference tables.
• Electric heated lunch box — 7.000 KD. 90 W, 110/220 V, 1.8 litres, 304 stainless steel inner liner, 0.74 kg empty. Shared with food appliances.

Choosing between them

• Strip-cut or cross-cut? A strip-cut shredder cuts paper into long 6.8 mm ribbons. A cross-cut one cuts across as well, into 4 × 39 mm pieces, which is what you want for anything with an account number on it. We stock both, but only the strip-cut one is in stock, at 12.000 KD.
• Plan around the duty cycle, not the sheet count. The strip-cut model runs 2 minutes then needs 25 minutes off. Five sheets at a time sounds slow until you work out that the cooling, not the feed, is what limits a morning's shredding.
• Three outlets or four? At 11.950 KD you get three AC outlets and a flip-up mechanism; at 21.450 KD you get four, a hydraulic lift, an aluminium panel and a 2500 W rating. The 9.500 KD difference is mostly the lift and the panel, so for one person's desk the cheaper one is usually right.
• Measure the cut-out before you order either socket. Both are 15 A and IP44, but the hydraulic one needs more depth under the surface than the flip-up one. Bring the measurement to the showroom.
• Both sockets have USB-A and USB-C, so a phone and a laptop charge without an adaptor taking up an AC outlet.

How much is a paper shredder in Kuwait?

12.000 KD for the strip-cut model: 5 sheets at a time, 6.8 mm strips, a 220 mm throat and a 10 litre bin. It is in stock. The cross-cut model with a 13 litre bin is out of stock, so we are not quoting a price for it.

Can I shred a credit card?

Not with the shredder that is in stock. The 12.000 KD strip-cut model is rated for paper only, 5 sheets at a time. The cross-cut model is the one rated for a card as well as 6 sheets of A4 — and it is out of stock at the moment.

How long can the shredder run for?

Two minutes, then it needs about 25 minutes to cool before the next run. It shreds at 3.8 metres per minute at roughly 70 dB while it is going.

What is the difference between the two pop-up sockets?

The 11.950 KD one has three AC outlets, flips up out of a cut-out, and has a stainless steel and PC shell with tamper-resistant shutters. The 21.450 KD one has four AC outlets, rises on a hydraulic lift, has an aluminium panel and thick copper contacts, and is rated to 2500 W on a 1.5 m cable.
