Batteries

AA and AAA alkaline batteries at 1.5 V, both 0.250 KD, both in stock in quantity — 885 AA and 9,918 AAA on the shelf today. These are the two sizes that run remotes, clocks, torches, scales, keyboards, mice, door locks, smoke alarms and most of the measuring tools we sell. If you need a size we do not list, or a pack rather than a loose cell, ask at the counter and we will tell you what we have.

Which one do you need?

Both sizes are the same 0.250 KD, so there is no price decision to make — buy the size your device takes. How many come in a pack is not listed on our product pages, so tell us the quantity you want and we will confirm what it comes in.

What to check before buying

• Check the device, not the price. AA and AAA cost the same here, so the only question is which one fits. AA is the fat one, AAA is the thin one, and nothing takes both.
• Both are 1.5 V alkaline. That is the standard cell for everyday equipment. If your device asks for a rechargeable, a lithium cell, a coin cell or a 9-volt block, none of those is on this page, so ask at the counter before you buy something that does not fit.
• Buy more than you need, in the sizes you actually use. At 0.250 KD they are the cheapest thing on any of our pages and the most annoying thing to be without. We hold thousands of both, so site and office quantities are no trouble.
• Change the whole set, not one cell. Mixing a fresh cell with a tired one in the same device wastes the fresh one, because the old cell drags the pair down. If a two-cell remote dies, change both.
• Take them out of anything you are storing. Equipment going into a store or a van for the season is better off with the cells out of it. That is the single thing that saves the most batteries and it costs nothing.
• Buying for an office or a site? Contact us for quantities. AAA in particular is held in bulk — nearly ten thousand — so there is no practical limit on a normal order.

Our product pages do not record the pack quantity, so we are not going to put a number on it and risk being wrong. Tell us how many cells you need and we will tell you exactly what they come in and what the total is. It is a thirty-second question at the counter or on the phone.

Do you have other sizes — 9 volt, C, D, button cells or rechargeables?

Not at the moment. This page is AA and AAA alkaline only. If you need a coin cell for a car remote, a 9-volt block for a smoke alarm, or a rechargeable, ask at the counter before you make the trip — we would rather tell you on the phone than have you come in for nothing.
