Choosing a heater

  • Indoors means electric. The 400 W bladeless heater is the only one of the four made for a closed room: it has no flame and no cylinder, so it needs no ventilation. The three gas heaters are for outdoor and well-ventilated spaces.
  • Patio gas heaters warm people, not air. A mushroom or pyramid heater radiates downward and outward, so it works in open air where a fan heater would not. Seat people within about two metres of it.
  • Mushroom or pyramid? The mushroom reflector at 53.000 KD spreads heat in a circle and is the cheaper of the two. The pyramid at 85.000 KD puts the flame in a glass tube, which is the one people choose when the heater is also part of the setting, and it carries a flame-out cut-off.

  • Allow for the cylinder. Both patio heaters stand on a base that holds the gas cylinder, so measure for the base footprint and not just the column.
  • Never run a gas heater in a closed room or a tent. Outdoor patio heaters and portable gas heaters both need air; take the electric one indoors instead.
