Buying tips

  • Match the disc to the material. Abrasive cutting wheels are for steel and stainless. Diamond discs are for tile, marble, concrete and block. Using a metal wheel on tile will burn it out and chip the edge.
  • Check the arbor and the diameter. Most of our discs are 115 mm with a 22.23 mm centre, which is the standard small angle grinder. Measure your machine before you buy a box.
  • Wet, dry or turbo? Dry discs suit quick site cuts, wet cutting keeps dust and heat down on tile and marble, and a turbo rim cuts faster at the cost of a rougher edge.
  • Thinner is cleaner. An ultra-thin diamond disc takes out less material and leaves porcelain and ceramic with far less chipping.
  • Hole saws: bi-metal cuts wood, plasterboard and mild steel. Buy the set if you don't yet know the hole sizes you need — an 11-piece or 16-piece set costs less than three singles.
  • Saw blades: more teeth gives a finer finish and a slower cut; fewer teeth clears sawdust faster in thick timber. Blades for aluminium have a different tooth grind from wood blades — don't swap them.
  • Consumables go blunt. Buy discs a box at a time; a blunt disc is slower, hotter and harder on the machine than a fresh one.

FAQs

Which disc cuts tile and which cuts metal?

Diamond discs cut tile, marble, concrete and block — from 0.450 KD, or 1.250 KD and up for the ultra-thin ones that leave a clean edge on porcelain. Abrasive cutting wheels, flat or depressed centre, cut steel and stainless, from 0.150 KD.

How much is a cutting disc in Kuwait?

Metal cutting discs start at 0.150 KD, diamond discs at 0.450 KD, ultra-thin diamond discs at 1.250 KD, and cup grinding wheels at 1.750 KD. Circular saw blades for wood run 0.850–5.300 KD, and workshop blades for aluminium and laminate are 13.000–50.000 KD.

What size disc fits my angle grinder?

Most of what we stock is 115 mm with a 22.23 mm bore, which fits the common 4.5-inch grinder. If your machine is larger, or you are not sure, bring the old disc to the showroom and we will match it.

Do I need a hole saw or a drill bit?

A drill bit makes small holes; a hole saw is what you use for anything above roughly 20 mm — pipe passes, downlights, door locks. Bi-metal hole saws here start at 0.750 KD, with 11-piece and 16-piece sets at 3.000 and 2.750 KD. New to cordless tools? See how a cordless drill works.

Looking for the machine rather than the blade? See angle grinders and cutting machines or electric saws. For drill bits, see drilling tools.
