Choosing one

• Match the coverage rating to the room, not to the tank. The figures printed on these units are 30–50 m², 80–100 m², 100 m², 700 m² and 1,000 m². A 150 ml unit rated for 50 m² will not carry a majlis, and an 800 ml unit in a bedroom will sit on its lowest setting all day.
• Waterless or water-based. The 15 ml car unit and the 800 ml unit atomise the oil directly, so there is no water to refill. The 5 L unit is a humidifier with a water tank and an aroma function.
• Check how it is powered before you pick the spot. The floor-standing unit runs on DC 12 V from a mains adaptor, the 150 ml app diffuser runs on mains or a dry battery (battery not included), and the car units charge over Type-C.
• Noise, if it is going in a bedroom. The quoted figures are under 30 dB for the 150 ml app diffuser, under 40 dBA for the 200 ml, under 45 dBA for the floor-standing unit and under 36 dB for the 5 L humidifier.
• Bakhoor is a different machine. A diffuser atomises liquid oil and cannot take chips. The electric bakhoor burner heats bakhoor or oud on an adjustable dial with a timer, and needs no charcoal.

FAQs

How long does a bottle of oil last in a diffuser?

Only one of these products states a consumption rate: the 15 ml aluminium car diffuser, at 0.03 to 0.15 ml an hour, which is roughly 100 to 500 running hours from one 15 ml bottle. The records for the 150 ml, 200 ml, 500 ml and 800 ml units do not state a rate, so we will not quote one — on those it comes down to the tank size, the intensity setting and the hours you schedule. Ask us at the counter before you order if running time is what matters to you.

What is the difference between a diffuser and an air freshener spray?

A spray gives one burst, by hand. These diffusers atomise oil on a schedule you set from the app — on the 800 ml unit, a spray and pause interval anywhere between 5 and 300 seconds — so the room stays at the same strength all day without anyone touching it.

Which diffuser covers a majlis?

For a normal majlis the 200 ml Bluetooth unit at 29.950 KD is rated to 100 m². For a large majlis, a lobby or a villa entrance, the 500 ml floor-standing unit at 48.500 KD is rated to 700 m² and the 800 ml unit at 79.950 KD to 1,000 m².

Can I use these for bakhoor or oud?

No — the diffusers take liquid fragrance oil only. For bakhoor and oud, the electric bakhoor burner at 11.000 KD heats the chips on an adjustable temperature dial with a built-in timer, and comes with a removable inner bowl and tongs.

How much does a diffuser start at here?

9.950 KD for the rechargeable mini car set, which clips to a car vent or stands on a desk and comes with fragrance oil vials in the box. For a room on mains power the entry price is 11.950 KD, for the 150 ml app-controlled unit rated at 30 to 50 m².
