What a working set-up costs

Around 30 KD — the 130 A inverter at 25.500 KD, a mask at 1.500 KD and a pack of 2.5 mm rods at 2.800 KD. That is the cheapest set-up here that can actually lay a bead.
Around 33 KD — the same, with the auto-darkening helmet at 4.500 KD instead of the hand-held mask. If you weld for more than an hour at a time, this is the version to buy.
Add 1.100 KD — a 25 lb and a 50 lb magnetic holder, which is what stops you chasing a joint around the bench.
40.000 KD — the MIG 250, if you are welding long runs and do not want to stop and change rods. Only 3 in stock.
14.500 KD — the 1500 W pipeline machine, which is a different job entirely: it heats and fuses plastic pipe, it does not weld metal.

Buying tips

Arc or MIG? An arc (stick) welder uses coated rods you swap out by hand — cheaper to buy, cheaper to feed, and it copes better with dirty or outdoor steel. A MIG machine feeds wire continuously, which is faster and tidier on long seams but costs more up front.
Budget for the rods, not just the machine. A 2.5 x 300 mm rod pack is 2.800 KD and it is the part you buy again. Check the rod diameter suits the work before you stock up.
Hand mask or auto-darkening helmet? A hand mask at 1.500 KD is fine for a handful of tacks. An auto-darkening helmet at 4.500 KD leaves both hands free and means you do not have to flip it up to see where you are — the difference shows up after the third joint, not the first.
Buy magnetic holders early. At 0.450 KD for 25 lbs and 0.650 KD for 50 lbs, two of them cost less than a single rod pack and they hold a corner square while you tack it.
Plastic pipe is not a welding job in the metal sense. The 1500 W pipeline machine heats the pipe and the fitting until they fuse. An arc welder will not join PVC or PP-R at all.
Soldering is not welding either. Soldering wire at 0.750 KD and a soldering iron join electrical and electronic parts with a filler metal at low heat — see electrical hand tools for the irons.
Gloves, goggles and a face shield are bought separately in safety — work gloves, goggles, helmets and face shields are all stocked there.

Soldering wire is here at 0.750 KD for 75 g, in 1 mm and 2 mm. The irons themselves are in electrical hand tools: 1.600 KD for 40 W, 1.900 KD for 60 W, 2.250 KD for 100 W, and a 120 W soldering gun with an LCD display at 5.250 KD.

Can you weld aluminium or copper with these?

Our aluminium alloy welding wire is out of stock in both sizes at the moment — ask us about availability. We do not stock TIG, spot or laser welding equipment at all, so talk to us in the showroom before buying a machine for aluminium or copper work.
