It is also made in a shorter 48.5 × 58 cm size. 13 are on the shelf. This is a bathroom and hotel-style fitting: it stays on the wall and takes towels and small items, rather than a full wash load.

Choosing a drying rack

  • Floor stand or wall rail? A floor stand takes a whole wash load and folds away; a wall rail takes towels and stays put. They are not substitutes, and right now only the wall rail is in stock.
  • Load rating matters more than size. The stainless floor stand is rated 140 kg, which is the number to compare against a cheaper rack — wet laundry is far heavier than dry.
  • Measure the folded depth, not the open width. The stainless stand folds into a stick in about ten seconds and stands in a corner; the three-tier telescopic one folds flat but needs more wall.
  • Wheels are worth it if you dry indoors. Two of the four racks are on wheels, which lets you move a loaded rack to wherever the air is moving without unloading it.
  • The heated rail needs an electrician. It is wall-mounted and wired in, 48.5 × 96 cm, so decide the position before you buy — it does not move afterwards.
