The figures that decide it
- Food capacity is quoted in litres, and the useful number is kilograms. Only one listing converts it: the 12.500 KD feeder records 3 L as 1.5 kg of kibble. The 19.500 KD feeder states 3 L and the 35.950 KD unit states a 5 L food hopper with 4 L of water, and neither gives a weight - so we are not going to guess one for them. The 12.500 KD unit is also the only one that states a portion size: 10 g or 20 g per serving.
- Kibble size matters more than people expect. The 12.500 KD feeder states 5 to 10 mm dry, non-sticky food. Larger or semi-moist kibble is what jams an auger feeder.
- Two fountains, two mechanisms. The 9.950 KD unit holds 2.5 L in an ABS body of 185 x 185 x 127 mm, weighs 735 g, draws 1 W and runs a high-density filter. The 10.500 KD unit holds 2 L, drinks from a 304 stainless steel tray, starts when an infrared sensor sees the cat approach, takes replaceable filter cotton and runs off a USB 5 V cable. It is also the one of the two whose record states tool-free disassembly.
- The litter box is sized by cat, not by room. Its own record states cats of 1 to 8 kg, a 65 L drum with a 9 L waste bin integrated in the same unit, and 45 x 45 cm bin bags. It takes mineral, bentonite, mixed or tofu litter. At 82.450 KD it is the most expensive thing on this page by a wide margin, so measure the space before you order - and bring a bag of your current litter to the counter if you are not sure it is one of the four.
