The two machines

• Hand hydraulic pipe bending machine — 44.900 KD for 10 tons, 77.000 KD for 16 tons, 122.500 KD for 18 tons. The ram is driven by a hand pump, so it needs no power at all. Three of the four tonnages are in stock in quantity; the 12-ton is sold out.
• Electric hydraulic pipe bending machine — 112.500 KD for 10 tons, 177.000 KD for 18 tons. The same hydraulic principle with a motor-driven pump instead of a lever. The 16-ton is sold out.

What we do not publish: neither machine has a recorded pipe-diameter range, former set, bend radius or stroke length. Tonnage and price are the only figures on record, so we are not going to quote a pipe size we cannot stand behind. Bring the pipe, or its outside diameter and wall thickness, to the showroom and we will tell you which tonnage you need and what formers come with it.

Choosing a tonnage

• Hand or electric is a 67.600 KD question at the same tonnage. Ten tons costs 44.900 KD by hand and 112.500 KD electric. The force is identical; the difference buys you the pump. If you bend a few pipes a month, buy the hand machine.
• Electric earns its price on repetition, not on power. Pumping an 18-ton ram by hand for a day is the reason the electric exists — not because it bends anything the hand machine cannot.
• Going from 10 to 16 tons by hand costs 32.100 KD. 44.900 KD to 77.000 KD. Going from 16 to 18 costs another 45.500 KD, which is a steep step for two tons — so be sure you need it.
• Measure the pipe, not the job. Outside diameter and wall thickness are what decide the tonnage. A thin-wall pipe of a large diameter can need less force than a thick-wall one that looks smaller.
• No power on site? That settles it: the hand machine, in 10, 16 or 18 tons.
