Cold chisels and concrete chisels for cutting, splitting and chipping metal, brick and concrete by hand. Four chisels, five sizes, 250 mm and 300 mm long, from 0.750 KD for a 22 mm flat chisel to 1.000 KD for a 24 mm flat or a 4 mm point. All five are in stock. These are masonry and metal chisels — there are no woodworking chisels in this collection.

Which chisel do you need?

Chisel Best for Price
Flat cold chisel, 22 × 16 × 250 mm Shearing bolt heads and rivets, cutting sheet and bar, lifting tile — the shortest of the five 0.750 KD
Flat cold chisel, 25 mm edge × 300 mm The widest flat edge we stock, for chipping render and splitting brick 0.950 KD
Concrete chisel, 4 mm point × 300 mm Starting a hole in concrete, breaking out a small area, cracking a slab 0.950 KD
Flat cold chisel, 24 × 18 × 300 mm The same work as the 22 mm but with more length and a thicker shank 1.000 KD
Pointed cold chisel, 4 × 18 × 300 mm Point work in masonry where you want tool steel hardened to HRC52-57 1.000 KD
Wood chisels (bevel-edge, mortice, carving) Not stocked. Nothing in this collection will cut wood cleanly —

The four chisels and what they cost

Nothing on this page is out of stock at the moment — all four products and all five sizes are on the shelf.

Choosing a chisel

  • Flat edge or point? A flat edge cuts and shears along a line: bolt heads, rivets, sheet, bar, tile. A point concentrates the whole blow on one spot, which is what you want to start a hole in concrete or crack a slab. If you only buy one, buy the flat.
  • The widest flat is not the dearest. The 25 mm flat edge is 0.950 KD and the 24 mm flat is 1.000 KD. If edge width is what you are after, the 0.950 KD one is both wider and cheaper.
  • Length is reach, not strength. 250 mm keeps your hand close to the work; 300 mm keeps it further from the hammer. Three of the five are 300 mm, one is 250 mm.
  • HRC52-57 is the only hardness figure we have. It covers the flat and pointed tool-steel chisels. The two 45# carbon-steel chisels are drop forged and heat treated, but no hardness number is published for them, so we are not going to quote one.
  • Hit it with the right hammer. A claw hammer is the wrong tool for a chisel head. Use a machinist or stoning hammer from hammers, from 0.500 KD.
  • Doing more than a few holes? Stop chiselling by hand. An SDS bit in a rotary hammer from power tools does in minutes what a hand chisel does in an hour.

FAQs

How much is a chisel in Kuwait?

0.750 KD for a 22 × 16 × 250 mm flat cold chisel, 0.950 KD for either a 25 mm flat or a 4 mm concrete point at 300 mm, and 1.000 KD for a 24 × 18 × 300 mm flat or a 4 × 18 × 300 mm pointed chisel. Those five prices are the whole collection.

Do you sell wood chisels?

No. All four chisels here are masonry and metal chisels — cold chisels and concrete chisels. We do not stock bevel-edge, mortice or carving chisels, and none of these will cut wood cleanly. For wood we have hand saws and hacksaws in hand tools from 0.750 KD.

Is there a chisel set?

No — the chisels are sold singly, at 0.750 to 1.000 KD each. Buying all five sizes comes to 4.650 KD.

What is the difference between a cold chisel and a concrete chisel?

A cold chisel has a flat edge, here 22, 24 or 25 mm wide, and is made for cutting cold metal and masonry along a line. The concrete chisel has a 4 mm point rather than an edge, so the blow goes into one spot — for starting a hole or breaking out concrete. Both are 300 mm long in the versions we stock, except the 250 mm flat.

What steel are they made of?

The flat and pointed chisels are special tool steel hardened to HRC52-57 and powder coated. The 25 mm cold chisel and the 4 mm concrete chisel are 45# carbon steel, drop forged and heat treated, with an 18 mm shank.
