Nylon fisher wall plugs and the screws that go with them. A fisher plug is 0.500 KD in 5 mm rising to 1.750 KD in 14 mm, six sizes in all; self-tapping screws run from 0.650 KD across 23 sizes in gauges 4 to 10; self-drilling screws for sheet metal come in 27 sizes and six head types; and drywall screws come in three types and 24 sizes. Every size of every product is in stock today, which is unusual, so a handful and a site quantity are both no trouble.

Which one do you need?

Type Best for Price
Nylon fisher wall plugs, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 mm Fixing into block, concrete or brick. You drill the hole, tap the plug in, and the screw expands it. This is the fixing for anything on a masonry wall that has to carry weight — shelves, TV brackets, cabinets, handrails. 0.500 KD at 5 mm rising in clean 0.250 KD steps to 1.750 KD at 14 mm 0.500–1.750 KD
Self-tapping screws, 23 sizes, gauges 4 to 10, 5/8" to 4" Cutting their own thread as they go into soft material or thin sheet — the screw you put into a fisher plug, and the general-purpose screw for most jobs. Prices vary by size rather than stepping up with length, so check the size you want 0.650–2.250 KD
Self-drilling screws, 27 sizes, six head and finish types Metal to metal with no pilot hole — the point is a drill bit. For steel studwork, sheet metal, roofing sheet and car bodywork. Six types: truss head zinc, hex washer head zinc, plain zinc, black, pan framing zinc and pan framing black 2.250–5.000 KD
Drywall gypsum screws, 24 sizes, three types Fixing plasterboard to timber or metal studs. The bugle head pulls flush into the board without tearing the paper. Three types: coarse black, coarse zinc and twinfast black, from 3/4" to 4" 2.250–3.500 KD
Driver bit set, 10 pieces The bits that drive the screws above from a drill. Ten pieces in a set 0.750 KD

Nothing in this collection is out of stock today — all 81 sizes across the five products are available.

What to check before buying

  • Plug size and drill size are the same number. An 8 mm fisher plug goes in an 8 mm hole. Drill the hole the size of the plug, not the size of the screw, and drill it slightly deeper than the plug is long so the dust has somewhere to go.
  • Match the screw to the plug, not the other way round. The screw has to be long enough to pass through what you are fixing AND fill the plug — otherwise the back of the plug never expands and the fixing pulls out. Bring what you are mounting and we will pair the two across the counter.
  • Into plasterboard, a fisher plug on its own is not the answer. A nylon plug needs something solid behind it. We do not stock a plasterboard toggle or a cavity fixing at the moment, so if the wall is hollow, say so before you buy — and for board fixed to studs, the drywall screws above go straight into the stud.
  • Self-tapping or self-drilling? Self-tapping cuts a thread but needs a hole first. Self-drilling has a drill point on the end and needs no hole at all, which is what you want in steel sheet. If you are going into a plug, you want self-tapping.
  • Check the price against the size you actually want. The self-tapping range is not priced in a straight line — some longer sizes cost less than shorter ones. We quote the range honestly rather than implying it climbs with length, so ask for the exact size and we will tell you what that one costs today.
  • Drywall screws: coarse for timber studs, finer for metal. That is what the coarse and twinfast types are about. Three types and 24 lengths, all in stock.
  • Doing a whole flat or a shopfit? Give us the wall type and the quantities rather than a size list. Contact us — the three screw ranges hold over 7,000 units between them, so site quantities are not a problem.

FAQs

How much is a fisher in Kuwait, and what sizes do you have?

Nylon fisher wall plugs are 0.500 KD in 5 mm, 0.750 KD in 6 mm, 1.000 KD in 8 mm, 1.250 KD in 10 mm, 1.500 KD in 12 mm and 1.750 KD in 14 mm. All six sizes are in stock. The 6 mm and 8 mm are the two most jobs use.

Which drill bit do I use with a 6 mm fisher?

A 6 mm bit. The plug diameter and the hole diameter are the same figure, so a 6 mm plug wants a 6 mm hole, an 8 mm plug an 8 mm hole, and so on. Go a little deeper than the plug's length. For the drill itself, see cordless drills and screwdrivers.

What is the difference between a self-tapping and a self-drilling screw?

The tip. A self-tapping screw cuts its own thread but still needs a hole drilled first — 23 sizes here from 0.650 KD, in gauges 4, 6, 8 and 10 and lengths 5/8 inch to 4 inch. A self-drilling screw has a drill point on the end, so it makes its own hole as it goes; that is the one for metal to metal, and we hold 27 sizes in six head and finish types from 2.250 KD.

Do you have chipboard screws or Kirby screws?

Yes, both, on the screws page along with everything listed above. If you want a nail rather than a screw, those are on wood nails, concrete nails and air nailer nails — and for a light fixing into a block wall, a steel concrete nail there is often enough without a plug at all.

Also useful: screws for the chipboard and Kirby ranges, and cordless drills and screwdrivers for drilling the hole and driving the screw.
