Choosing a projector in Kuwait

  • Resolution is the number that matters, not the "supports 4K" line. The HY320 is natively 1080p and will accept a 4K signal; it displays it at 1080p. That is the honest way to read every projector spec sheet, ours included.
  • Battery or mains? The K2 at 34.000 KD has its own battery and auto focus, so it goes to the roof, the garden or the farm. The HY320 at 18.500 KD needs a socket and costs 15.500 KD less.
  • Buy the screen with the projector. A projector pointed at a wall loses contrast and shows every imperfection in the paint. The 100 inch screen at 23.000 KD on a tripod is the single biggest improvement you can make to a 18.500 KD projector.
  • Size the screen to the room, not the wall. At 16:9, a 100 inch screen is about 221 x 125 cm and a 120 inch about 266 x 149 cm. Leave throw distance in front and seating behind it.
  • Darkness beats brightness. Any projector in a Kuwait living room with the curtains open looks washed out. Blackout curtains cost less than a brighter projector.
  • Sound is where projectors are weakest. The K2 has stereo speakers; the 7.500 KD Bluetooth transmitter lets two people listen on headphones instead, which is the quiet-house answer.
  • The 32 inch display is not a projector. At 182.000 KD it is a self-contained Android computer with a touch panel and a 9600 mAh battery, for a presentation table, a kitchen or a shop counter.

What size projector screen do I need?

At 16:9 a 100 inch screen is about 221 x 125 cm and a 120 inch about 266 x 149 cm. The 100 inch is 23.000 KD and the 120 inch 28.000 KD, both on a tripod with an aluminium alloy axle.
