An electric sander at Bab Al-Saif starts at 8.850 KD and the range runs to 33.500 KD for an 850 W drywall sander. A polisher is 12.500 KD, and the sandpaper that goes on any of them starts at 0.250 KD a pack.
Eight sanders are listed in Shuwaikh and they are not variations of one machine. A sheet sander, a random orbital, a belt sander and a wall sander do four different jobs, and buying the wrong one is the usual reason a sanding job takes a weekend. This page sorts them by what they actually do, with every price read from the product record, and then covers the grit — which is the part that decides the result.
Every sander, by type
| Sander | Stated power | What it is for | Price from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sheet sander with dust bag | 250 W | Flat surfaces and into a corner; square pad | 8.850 KD |
| Rotary sander | 320 W | Round pad spinning in one direction | 9.500 KD |
| Orbital sander and polisher set, 122 mm | 380 W | Wood, wall and floor; comes with a polishing set | 9.550 KD |
| Finishing sander | 650 W | The last pass before paint or varnish | 10.000 KD |
| Random orbital sander, 5 inch | 1200 W | Fast and swirl-free on a flat panel | 10.000 KD |
| Belt sander, model AST9x533 | 550 W | Removing a lot of material quickly, in one direction | 20.000 KD |
| Wall sander | 850 W | Ceilings and walls, on a long reach | 27.750 KD |
| Drywall sander, foldable, self-suction | 850 W | Walls and floors, folds, draws its own dust | 33.500 KD |
All eight are corded and run on ordinary 220 V house supply. The full grid is in power sanders.
The wattage does not rank these machines
Read the second column against the fourth and it falls apart immediately. The 1200 W random orbital is 10.000 KD. The 850 W wall sander is 27.750 KD — nearly three times the price on less than three quarters of the power. And the 250 W sheet sander is the lowest-priced machine here at 8.850 KD while the 650 W finishing sander is 10.000 KD.
What you are paying for above 10.000 KD is not watts. It is reach on the wall sander, dust extraction on the drywall sander, and a belt instead of a pad on the belt sander. Decide on the job, then look at the price; the wattage is a description of the motor, not a ranking.
Which one for which job
- A door, a shelf, a table top: the sheet sander at 8.850 KD. Its pad is square, so it reaches into a corner that no round pad can. It also has a dust bag, which on a job indoors is the difference between sanding once and cleaning twice.
- A flat panel you want smooth: the random orbital at 10.000 KD. The 5 inch pad spins and wanders at the same time, so it does not leave the circular scratch pattern a plain rotary leaves. This is the one to buy if you only buy one and the work is furniture.
- Taking off paint, rust or 2 mm of timber: the belt sander at 20.000 KD. A belt cuts in one direction and removes far more than a pad. It will also cut a hollow into a soft panel in seconds if you stop moving, which is why it is not the beginner's machine.
- A ceiling or a whole wall: the wall sander at 27.750 KD. The reason it costs 27.750 KD rather than 10.000 KD is the reach, which keeps you off a ladder for a room's worth of ceiling.
- Plaster and filler: the drywall sander at 33.500 KD. 850 W, folds for storage, and its record states self-suction — it pulls its own dust rather than dropping it on the floor of the room you are standing in. On plaster, that is most of the job.
- One pass before paint: the finishing sander at 10.000 KD. This is a light machine for the last pass, not for removing material.
If you want more than a sander, a four-piece combo at 39.550 KD pairs a 380 W sander with a 16.8 V cordless drill, an 800 W jigsaw and a 650 W grinder. Against buying a sander alone at 9.550 KD, the other three come to 30.000 KD in that box.
A polisher is not a sander
Two angle polishers are listed, at 12.500 KD for 1100 W and 14.950 KD for 1200 W. Both are described for car polishing, and both are in power tools.
A sander carries abrasive and removes material. A polisher carries a soft pad and compound and works the surface you already have. Put a sanding disc on a polisher and you will take paint off a car wing. The 9.550 KD orbital sander is the one machine here that is listed as doing both, and it is supplied with a polishing set.
A three-piece steel wire brush set at 0.750 KD sits in the same family and does neither: a wire brush strips rust and scale, which is a rougher job than either.
The abrasive is the consumable, and the grit is the decision
The machine is bought once. The paper is bought every job, and the grit number is what actually decides the finish. A higher number is a finer paper.
| Abrasive | Grits listed | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Sandpaper sheets, 225 mm | 80, 120, 220, 320 | 0.250 KD |
| Sanding block, 210 × 105 mm | Holds the paper by hand | 1.250 KD |
| Abrasive sheets for wood | P80, P100, P120, P150, P180, P220, P320 | 5.000 KD |
| Abrasive sanding belt, model LS-309-XH | Four options: 40, 60, 80, 100 | 5.000 KD |
One honest note on that last row. The belt's four options are written on the record with an inch mark — 40", 60", 80", 100" — where every other abrasive here is written as a grit, P80 or 80#. We are not going to tell you which the belt record means, because we would be guessing. Ask us to read the box before you order a belt.
How to use the numbers you can rely on:
- 80 grit takes material off. Old paint, a rough saw edge, filler proud of the surface.
- 120 grit is the working middle. Most of a job is done here.
- 220 and 320 are finishing. The pass before paint or varnish, and between coats.
- Do not skip more than one step. Going 80 straight to 320 leaves the 80 grit scratches under the shine, and they show up the moment the varnish goes on.
- The 1.250 KD sanding block exists for a reason. Paper held in bare fingers follows every dip in the surface and rounds every edge you were trying to keep square.
A wider abrasive range, including the sheets for wood, is in abrasives.
What Kuwait actually changes
- Dust indoors has nowhere to go. Windows stay shut for most of the year here, so a machine that collects its own dust is worth more than its price difference suggests. That is the 8.850 KD sheet sander with a bag and the 33.500 KD drywall sander with self-suction.
- Plaster and filler walls, not timber frames. Most sanding in a Kuwaiti flat or villa is plaster, filler and paint on a hard wall, which is why the wall sander at 27.750 KD and the drywall sander at 33.500 KD are the two machines at the top of this list rather than a cabinet sander.
- Ceilings are high. A 27.750 KD wall sander with reach beats a 10.000 KD orbital plus a ladder on anything bigger than a patch.
- Car paint in this sun is a polishing job, not a sanding job. If the panel is sound, it is the 12.500 KD polisher you want. A sander on a car wing removes the paint.
- 220 V and a cord. All eight sanders are corded. Measure from the socket to the far corner of the room before you plan the job.
- Buy the paper with the machine. At 0.250 KD a pack there is no reason to start a job with one grit, and the shop run back for 120 grit costs more in petrol than the paper.
Why buy from Bab Al-Saif
- Feel the weight and the pad before you buy at our showroom in Shuwaikh Plaza, Khalifa Al-Jassim Street, Shuwaikh Industrial. A sander is held against a surface for an hour at a time, and weight and grip decide that more than wattage does.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a sanding machine in Kuwait?
From 8.850 KD for a 250 W sheet sander with a dust bag. A 320 W rotary sander is 9.500 KD, a 380 W orbital sander and polisher set is 9.550 KD, a 650 W finishing sander and a 1200 W random orbital are both 10.000 KD, a 550 W belt sander is 20.000 KD, an 850 W wall sander is 27.750 KD and an 850 W drywall sander is 33.500 KD.
Which sander do I use on wood?
For a flat panel, the 1200 W random orbital at 10.000 KD, because it does not leave a circular scratch pattern. For corners and edges, the 250 W sheet sander at 8.850 KD, because its pad is square. For removing a lot of timber quickly, the 550 W belt sander at 20.000 KD.
What is the difference between an orbital and a random orbital sander?
A plain orbital or rotary pad moves in one fixed pattern, so it can leave visible circular marks. A random orbital spins and wanders at once, so the scratches never line up and the surface comes out even. Ours are a 320 W rotary at 9.500 KD, a 380 W orbital at 9.550 KD and a 1200 W random orbital at 10.000 KD.
What is a wall sander?
A sander on a long reach, for ceilings and whole walls, so you work from the floor instead of a ladder. Ours is 850 W at 27.750 KD. The related machine is the 850 W foldable drywall sander at 33.500 KD, whose record states self-suction, meaning it draws its own dust instead of dropping it in the room.
How much is sandpaper in Kuwait?
0.250 KD for 225 mm sheets in 80, 120, 220 and 320 grit. Abrasive sheets for wood in P80 to P320 are 5.000 KD, an abrasive sanding belt is 5.000 KD, and a 210 × 105 mm sanding block to hold paper by hand is 1.250 KD.
What grit sandpaper do I need?
80 grit to remove material such as old paint or filler, 120 grit for most of the work, and 220 or 320 grit for the pass before paint or varnish. A higher number is a finer paper. Do not skip more than one step: going straight from 80 to 320 leaves the coarse scratches showing under the finish.
Is a polisher the same as a sander?
No. A sander carries abrasive and removes material; a polisher carries a soft pad and compound and works the surface you already have. Our angle polishers are 1100 W at 12.500 KD and 1200 W at 14.950 KD. The 380 W machine at 9.550 KD is the one listed as doing both, and it is supplied with a polishing set.
Do you have a drywall sander?
Yes, an 850 W foldable one at 33.500 KD. Its record states self-suction and that it handles floors as well as walls. The other machine for a whole wall or ceiling is the 850 W wall sander at 27.750 KD.
