An angle grinder in Kuwait costs from 6.000 KD. That is a 650 W, 115 mm corded machine at Bab Al-Saif in Shuwaikh, and the range runs up to 98.000 KD for an 18 V cordless 4.5 inch grinder with two batteries. The disc that goes on it costs between 0.150 KD and 3.000 KD, and only two numbers have to match: the disc diameter and the centre bore.
That second sentence is where most of the money gets wasted. A 4.5 inch grinder is a 115 mm grinder, and it takes a 115 mm disc with a 22.2 mm bore. Buy a 125 mm disc for it and it will not fit the guard. Here is the whole range, machines and discs, with the matching rule set out plainly.

Thirteen machines, 4 inch to 9 inch, corded and cordless. The whole grid, including what is between shipments, is in angle grinders and cutting machines.
Which size grinder do you need?
Disc diameter is the only size that matters, and bigger is not better. It buys depth of cut and costs you weight and control.
- 100 mm (4 inch), from 18.000 KD. The lightest. Good in tight corners and overhead, and comfortable one-handed for short work.
- 115 mm (4.5 inch), from 6.000 KD. The size to buy if you are buying one grinder. It cuts angle iron, rebar, bolts, threaded rod and tile, grinds welds, and takes the widest choice of disc we stock. Eight of our thirteen machines are 115 mm or 100 mm.
- 125 mm (5 inch), 16.000 KD. A little more depth for the same handling. Note that it needs 125 mm discs, not 115 mm ones.
- 180 mm (7 inch), from 25.000 KD. Two hands, all the time. For cutting through thicker section and slab in one pass.
- 230 mm (9 inch), 26.000 KD at 2200 W. A site machine. Deep cuts in concrete and heavy steel, and heavy enough that you will not want it for anything smaller.
Honest advice from the counter: people who buy the 9 inch for one deep cut end up buying a 4.5 inch afterwards for everything else. The reverse almost never happens.
Corded or cordless
A corded 115 mm grinder starts at 6.000 KD. The cheapest cordless one at the same disc size is 33.500 KD, and the cordless machines whose pages state that two batteries are included start at 54.000 KD.
So cordless costs between five and nine times as much for the same disc size. It is worth it when you are cutting rebar on a floor with no supply yet, or working up a ladder where a cable is the thing that trips you. If the work is in a workshop or a finished building, corded is the cheaper machine and it never runs flat. Check the product page for what is in the box before you compare two cordless prices, because not every one of them includes batteries.
Which disc fits which grinder
This is the part nobody explains in the shop, so here it is as a table. The bore is the hole in the middle, and it has to match the spindle.
| Grinder | Disc diameter | Centre bore |
|---|---|---|
| 4 inch | 100 mm | 16 mm |
| 4.5 inch | 115 mm | 22.2 mm |
| 5 inch | 125 mm | 22.2 mm |
| 7 inch | 180 mm | 22.2 mm |
| 9 inch | 230 mm | 22.2 mm |
A smaller disc will physically mount on a bigger machine and simply cut shallower. A larger disc will not go under the guard, and the guard is not the part to modify. If you are buying discs for a grinder you already own, read the diameter off the guard or the old disc and match it.

Cutting disc or grinding disc? Read the thickness
The number in the middle of a disc size is its thickness, and it tells you what the disc is for better than the label does.
- 1.0 to 1.6 mm, a cutting disc. Thin, so it removes little material and cuts fast. It is for cutting through, not for working along a surface. The 105 × 1.0 × 16 mm at 0.250 KD and 180 × 1.6 × 22.2 mm at 0.500 KD are these.
- 3 mm and up, for grinding and heavy cutting. The depressed-centre wheels at 115 × 6 × 22.2 mm and 230 × 3 × 22.2 mm, 0.250 KD and 0.750 KD, have the thickness to take side load.
- Flap discs, 0.750 KD. Overlapping abrasive leaves rather than a solid wheel. For finishing a weld or taking rust back, at 80, 100 or 120 grit, where a grinding wheel would dig in.
- Diamond discs, 0.450 KD and up. A steel disc with diamond grit on the rim, for tile, stone, block and concrete. Not for steel.
The practical point for anyone cutting tile in Kuwait: use a diamond disc, and if the cut is long, a wet one at 0.650 KD. For straight cuts in floor tile a manual tile cutter from 6.750 KD gives a cleaner edge than any grinder will.
The rest of the cutting range
In the same collection as the grinders, for jobs a grinder does badly:
- Wall chaser, 1100 W, 42.000 KD. Two parallel discs that cut a conduit groove in one pass instead of three with a grinder. 9 in stock.
- Wall chaser, 5000 W with water flow, 59.500 KD. For hard wall and slab, with water to hold the dust down. 99 in stock.
- Electric wall chisel, 950 W, 33.000 KD. Chases out plaster and block once the cuts are made.
- Cordless metal nibbler, 21 V brushless, 34.950 KD. Punches sheet metal instead of grinding it, so there are no sparks and the edge stays flat.
- Electric rebar cutter, 1200 W, 104.950 KD. Shears rebar cold. 2 in stock.
What is out of stock today
No prices for these, because you cannot buy them as we write: the 20 V cordless angle grinder, the 750 W 115 mm corded grinder, both bench grinders, all three die grinder and rotary tool kits, the 1500 W wall chaser, the 115 mm brazed diamond grinding slice, the 115 × 22.2 mm turbo diamond disc and the 115 × 1.0 × 22.2 mm thin cutting wheel. That last one is worth knowing about: the most common thin cutting disc size is between shipments, but the 115 mm abrasive disc at 0.150 KD and the 115 mm diamond blade at 0.450 KD both cover the same machine and are in stock.
Using a grinder without ruining the job
- Keep the guard on and turned toward you. Sparks and anything that leaves the disc go the other way.
- Let the disc reach full speed before it touches the work. Starting under load is how discs get damaged.
- Do not cut with the side of a thin disc. A 1.0 mm wheel is made for the edge only. Side load is what breaks them.
- Check the disc for cracks before you fit it, and replace it when the diameter has worn well down, because the cutting speed drops with it.
- Clamp the work. A grinder will move an unclamped offcut faster than you can. A 4 inch bench vice at 6.950 KD pays for itself in one afternoon.
- Buy discs by the box. At 0.150 KD each, running out mid-job costs more in time than a spare packet costs in dinars.

Frequently asked questions
How much is an angle grinder in Kuwait?
From 6.000 KD for a 650 W, 115 mm corded machine. A 4.5 inch trade grinder is 17.250 KD to 19.000 KD, a 7 inch is 25.000 KD to 33.750 KD, a 9 inch at 2200 W is 26.000 KD, and cordless runs from 33.500 KD to 98.000 KD.
Which disc fits a 4.5 inch angle grinder?
A 115 mm disc with a 22.2 mm centre bore. A 4 inch machine takes 100 mm with a 16 mm bore, a 5 inch takes 125 mm, a 7 inch 180 mm and a 9 inch 230 mm, all with a 22.2 mm bore.
How much do cutting discs cost in Kuwait?
From 0.150 KD for a 115 mm abrasive metal cutting disc. Diamond discs for tile and stone are 0.450 KD to 1.500 KD at 115 mm, flap discs for finishing are 0.750 KD, and a segmented cup grinding wheel for concrete is 3.000 KD.
What is the difference between a cutting disc and a grinding disc?
Thickness. A cutting disc is 1.0 to 1.6 mm and is used on its edge to cut through material. A grinding wheel is 3 mm or more and can take side load, so you work along a surface with it. Using a thin cutting disc sideways is what breaks them.
What size angle grinder should I buy?
115 mm (4.5 inch) if you are buying one, from 6.000 KD. It cuts angle iron, rebar, bolts and tile, grinds welds and takes the widest range of discs. Go to 180 mm or 230 mm only when you need depth of cut, because they are two-handed machines.
Can an angle grinder cut concrete and tile?
Yes, with a diamond disc rather than an abrasive metal disc. A 115 mm diamond blade is 0.450 KD, a wet diamond disc 0.650 KD and a dry one 0.750 KD. For a long groove in a wall a wall chaser at 42.000 KD is the right machine instead.
Corded or cordless angle grinder?
Corded, unless you need to work where there is no supply. A corded 115 mm grinder is 6.000 KD against 54.000 KD for a cordless one with two batteries — nine times the price for the same disc size.
