Buying tips

  • Read the air flow, not the psi. The pressure figure is what the gauge tops out at; the litres-per-minute figure is how fast the tyre actually fills. Records on this page state 22, 35, 40 and 85 L/min, and one states no flow figure at all.
  • A jump starter and a battery charger are not the same tool. A jump starter is a battery you keep in the boot to turn the engine over. A mains charger, 240 W upwards, puts charge back into the car battery over hours, which is the workshop answer.
  • Match the charger to the battery in amp-hours. The 240 W unit states 30 to 180 Ah, the 450 W states 30 to 220 Ah, the 1000 W states 30 to 400 Ah and the largest states 50 to 800 Ah. Read the Ah figure off your own battery label first.
  • Air impact wrenches need a compressor, not a 12 V inflator. Both are air driven, and the 17-piece set states a 90 psi working pressure and a 1/4 inch air inlet, so it runs off a workshop compressor rather than the cigarette lighter socket.
  • Three compressors carry almost the same name. What separates them is the cylinder count, the air flow and the accessory kit, which runs from battery clips and nozzle adapters to a 5 m hose with a brass quick-release coupling. Compare the spec list on each page rather than the name.
  • Moving fuel or chemicals? The hand pump suits a drum you can reach, the battery pump suits a jerrican, and the two electric drum pumps are for continuous work. See also hand and foot pumps and industrial machines.

FAQs

What size air compressor do I need for car tyres?

A 12 V unit rated 35 to 40 L/min fills a saloon tyre from low to full, and that is what the single-cylinder 180 W compressors at 8.450 KD state. For a pickup or a 4x4 on larger tyres, the twin-cylinder 200 W unit at 7.450 KD states 85 L/min and fills faster. Every compressor on this page runs off the car, either through the cigarette lighter socket or straight onto the battery clips.

How much is a car jump starter in Kuwait?

Jump starters start at 12.000 KD for a 12,000 mAh 600 A pack, 16.950 KD for a 29,600 mAh unit with a compressor built in, and 24.450 KD for a 24,000 mAh pack rated 4000 A peak. Plain copper booster cables, if another car is to hand, are 2.200 KD for 300 A at 2.5 metres and 3.500 KD for 500 A at 3 metres.

Do you have a tool for pulling a dent out of a door?

Yes, suction dent pullers on three listings, from 1.000 KD. Two of the three state 11.5 cm rubber cups on a plastic body, one of those with two cups; the third states no specification at all. They work on a shallow dent in a flat panel, and a crease or a dent across a body line needs a body shop.

Can I pay cash on delivery?

Yes. Cash on delivery, card and Deema instalments are all accepted, with delivery across Kuwait, or come to the Shuwaikh Plaza showroom and take it with you.
