Aluminium doors are everywhere in Kuwait: apartment entrances, villa side doors, kitchen and roof doors, shop fronts. They are light and hold up well in the heat, but they are not built like a wooden door, so not every smart lock fits one. At Bab Al-Saif we have five smart locks that suit aluminium doors, from 32 KD to 85 KD, and our technicians can fit them for 7–20 KD depending on the door.
This guide explains what makes aluminium doors different, compares the five models side by side, and helps you pick the right one for your home or office.
Why aluminium doors need the right lock
A wooden door is thick and solid, so there is plenty of room to cut a pocket for the lock body. An aluminium door is usually a hollow frame with a narrower edge, and the space for the lock is set by the frame profile. That means three things matter more than usual:
- The lock body has to fit the frame. The part that sits inside the door must match the width and depth of the aluminium profile. A lock designed only for thick wooden doors may simply not go in.
- The handle and panels sit close to the glass or edge. Many aluminium doors have glass panels, so the front and back panels of the lock need to fit the flat part of the frame.
- Outdoor aluminium doors face sun, dust and humidity. If the lock faces the street, a garden or a roof, look for a model built for that, and think about battery life so you are not charging it every few weeks.
The easiest way to be sure is to send us a photo of your door and its edge before you order. We will tell you which model fits.
The 5 smart locks that fit aluminium doors
| Model | Price | How it opens | Power | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| K9 | 32 KD | Fingerprint, PIN code, key card, phone app (Wi-Fi) | Batteries | Apartment doors and offices on a budget |
| J03 | 50 KD | Face recognition, fingerprint, PIN code, key card, phone app (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) | Rechargeable battery | Families who want hands-free entry |
| J04 | 65 KD | Face recognition, fingerprint, PIN code, key card, phone app (Wi-Fi) | Rechargeable battery | Main entrances with face unlock (ask us about availability) |
| X6 | 65 KD | Face ID, fingerprint, PIN code, key card, phone app (Wi-Fi) | Rechargeable battery | Main entrances with face unlock (ask us about availability) |

Every one of these locks comes with backup keys and a USB emergency power port, so you can still get in if the battery runs flat, and each one stores up to 100 users.
K9: the simple, affordable choice (32 KD)
The K9 covers what most households need: fingerprint, PIN code, key card and a phone app over Wi-Fi. You can add family members, a driver or a housekeeper and remove them again from the app. If you just want to stop carrying keys on an apartment or office door, this is the lock to start with.
J03: face recognition at a mid-range price (50 KD)
The J03 adds face recognition, so you can walk up with shopping bags in your hands and the door opens. It connects over both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and it runs on a rechargeable battery instead of disposable ones. It suits busy family homes where people come and go all day.
J04 and X6: face unlock with Wi-Fi (65 KD each)
Both models open by face, fingerprint, PIN code, key card or app, and both use a rechargeable battery. They are a step up in design for a main entrance. Stock on these two changes, so message us before you order and we will confirm what is available.
S09: dual camera and video intercom (85 KD)
The S09 is our top model for aluminium doors. It has two cameras for face recognition and a live video intercom, so you can see and talk to whoever is at the door from your phone. The front panel is built for humidity and water, and it runs on two 6000 mAh batteries. It is the one to choose for a villa entrance or any door that faces the outside.
How to choose between them
- Budget first: the K9 at 32 KD gives you all the everyday unlock methods. Moving up to the J03 at 50 KD adds face recognition and a rechargeable battery.
- Who uses the door: with children or older family members, face recognition is easier than remembering a code. With staff or tenants, a PIN code or key card is simpler to hand out and cancel.
- Where the door is: for an inside apartment door, the K9 or J03 is plenty. For an outside door, a gate-facing entrance or a door you want to watch while you are away, go for the S09.
- How you want to charge it: the K9 uses batteries you replace; the J03, J04 and X6 use a rechargeable battery; the S09 carries two large batteries for longer between charges.
Installation on aluminium doors
Installation costs 7–20 KD. The price depends on your door: fitting a lock into a frame that already has the right opening is quicker than preparing a new one. Our technicians fit the lock for you. If you prefer to install it yourself, we will confirm before delivery that the model suits your door, and our guide on how to install a smart lock walks you through the steps.

Frequently asked questions
Can any smart lock be fitted on an aluminium door?
No. The lock body has to fit the aluminium frame, and many locks made for thick wooden doors will not. The K9, J03, J04, X6 and S09 are the models we fit on aluminium doors. Send us a photo of your door if you are not sure.
How much does a smart lock for an aluminium door cost in Kuwait?
Our aluminium-door models cost 32 KD (K9), 50 KD (J03), 65 KD (J04 and X6) and 85 KD (S09). Installation is 7–20 KD on top, depending on the door.
What happens if the battery runs out?
Every model has a USB emergency power port: plug in a power bank and the lock gets enough power to open with your fingerprint or code. You also get backup keys.
Can I use it on a sliding aluminium door?
Sliding doors lock differently from doors that swing open, so check with us first. Send a photo of the door and its edge, and we will tell you honestly whether one of our locks can work on it.
How many people can use one lock?
Each lock stores up to 100 users, and you can add or remove fingerprints, codes and cards whenever you need to. If you ever need to start fresh, see how to reset a smart lock.
