How it is built

From the sleeping surface down:

• Grey knitted cover, anti-mite and antibacterial. A treated knit that dust mites and bacteria do not settle in easily - worth having in a climate where bedding rarely dries out completely.
• Quilted fibre fill. Quilted straight into the cover so the first thing you feel is soft, before the firmer layers underneath take your weight.
• Natural latex. Latex has an open-cell structure, so air moves through it instead of being trapped. It is also the responsive layer - it springs back as you move rather than holding the shape of your body.
• Memory foam. The opposite behaviour, deliberately. It contours to your shoulder and hip and spreads your weight out instead of concentrating it on the pressure points. It also absorbs movement.
• High density foam. The transition layer. It stops you sinking through the two soft layers onto the hard core, which is what makes a soft-topped mattress feel supportive rather than shallow.
• Firm foam core. The support comes from solid high-density foam, not springs. Nothing inside can squeak, rust or lose tension in one spot, and there is no coil to transmit movement across the bed.
• Quilted side panels with comfort foam. The sides are padded too, so sitting on the edge to dress does not feel like sitting on a board.
• 3D fabric base. An open mesh underneath that lets air move out of the mattress from below, so moisture is not sealed in against the bed frame.

Why latex and memory foam together

Each one covers the other's weakness. Memory foam is excellent at pressure relief but slow to recover and inclined to hold heat. Latex is breathable and springy but does not contour as closely. Stacking them means you get the close contour of memory foam without the stuck-in-the-bed feeling, and the airflow of latex on top of it.

Who this suits

• Light sleepers sharing a bed. No springs and a memory foam layer is the quietest, stillest combination you can buy. One person getting up does not move the other.
• Anyone with shoulder or hip pressure. The memory foam layer is there specifically to spread load away from those points.

Choosing a size

All eight sizes are 200 cm long, so the only decision is the width. Measure the inside of your bed frame, not the outside. 90 and 120 cm are single widths, 140 to 160 cm are the usual double widths, and 180 to 200 cm are for a large master bed. Buy fitted sheets with sides of 25 cm or deeper.

Is this a spring mattress?

No. The support core is firm high-density foam. That is the point of it - there is nothing inside to squeak, and no coil to carry movement from one side of the bed to the other.

Is it firm or soft?

Firm underneath, soft on top. The core is firm foam, and the latex, memory foam and quilted pillow top above it give the surface its give. It reads as medium-firm to most people.

Does memory foam sleep hot?

On its own it can. Here it sits under a natural latex layer, which has an open-cell structure that air moves through, and above a 3D mesh base that vents from below.

How deep is it, and will my sheets fit?

25 cm deep and 200 cm long in every width. A fitted sheet needs sides of 25 cm or more to reach under it.

What is the warranty?
