Why the length matters more than the rating

3 metres is the figure to think about. Two cars nose to nose need the cable to cross a gap plus reach a battery that may be at the back of the engine bay on both sides - 2.5 m is often just short, and 3 m is usually enough. If your battery sits in the boot or under a seat, measure it before you buy.

500 A is the clamp and cable rating, not a figure about your car. A larger engine needs more current to turn over, which is why the bigger rating is the one left in stock; it will also jump a small car perfectly well.

A set of cables needs a second vehicle. If you want to start the car on your own, the alternative is a jump starter pack, and if you only need to keep tyres up rather than start the engine, see the 12 V air compressor.
