A thermostat only ever knows the temperature of the wall it is screwed to, which is usually a hallway nobody sits in. This one ships with a separate wireless room sensor you can put wherever people actually are — a bedroom, an upstairs office, the far end of a villa — so the system works to the temperature that matters instead of the one by the front door.

The face is a 4.3 inch full-colour touchscreen at 480 x 800, bright enough to read across a room and simple enough that a guest can change a setpoint without being shown how. It joins a 2.4 GHz network and pairs over Bluetooth, then runs from the Tuya app: weekly schedules, holds, remote changes from outside the building and voice control through the usual assistants. A TF card slot behind the unit takes firmware updates and logs. The housing is 21 mm deep, so it sits almost flush to the plaster.

It drives most 24 V systems — conventional two-stage heating and two-stage cooling, heat pumps, furnaces and boilers — which covers ducted splits, package units and most central systems in villas, hotels and offices. Note that it is a low-voltage control: it needs a 24 VAC circuit and a C-wire at the backplate and is not a replacement for a 220 V line-voltage wall controller, so check what is behind your existing thermostat before ordering.
