What the hammer setting is for

With the hammer off it drills wood and metal and drives screws. With the hammer on it takes 13 mm into concrete and block, which covers wall plugs, brackets, curtain rails and shelf fixings in a Kuwaiti flat or villa. For long holes through structural concrete, an SDS rotary hammer is the machine to use instead.

What to check before buying

Two 3 Ah batteries means one on the drill and one on the charger, so the job does not stop while you wait. If you already own 18 V batteries, check the fitting on yours against this drill before you assume they will swap. Drill bits are sold separately — see drill bits and hole saws.
