Reading a plate set

• The headline weight is the total, not the weight per hand. A 20 kg set loaded evenly across two bars is about 10 kg in each hand, and the 15 kg set about 7.5 kg at most. Read all four sets this way.
• Small plates set the size of your steps. The 15 kg set steps in 0.5 kg and 1.25 kg plates, so the finest change is 0.5 kg on one handle. The 20 kg set adds 2.5 kg plates for bigger jumps.
• Threaded bars and collars, not spring clips. The collar screws down so the plates do not shift mid-set. It is slower to change than a clip and more secure.
• Adding weight later. The bars take more plates, so you can add plates rather than buying a heavier fixed pair. Bring the set to the showroom and we will check which loose plates fit before you buy any.
• Cases. The 15 kg and 20 kg sets come in a case, which keeps plates in a cupboard rather than on the floor.

How much is a dumbbell set in Kuwait?

Twelve plates: four at 2.5 kg, four at 1.25 kg and four at 0.5 kg, on two short threaded bars with collars, in a carry case.

What is in the 15 kg set?

Adjustable handles with collars, eight 1.25 kg plates and four 0.5 kg plates, and a storage case.

Is 15 kg the weight of each dumbbell or the whole set?

The whole set. The plates total 15 kg across both handles, so loaded evenly that is about 7.5 kg per hand at most. The same applies to the 20, 30 and 50 kg sets.

Can I add weight later?

Yes. The bars take more plates as you progress, so you add plates rather than buying a heavier fixed pair.

Why threaded bars with collars?

The collar screws down onto the bar and holds the plates in place. It takes longer to change than a spring clip, but the plates do not shift during a set.
