The everyday end of the hardware shop: tarpaulins, extension reels, padlocks, exhaust fans, butane gas, paper shredders, folding tables and the small electrics that go round a house. Prices start at 0.750 KD for a luggage padlock and 1.000 KD for a 2 × 3 m tarpaulin, with most of the shelf between 1 and 12 KD; the dearest thing here is a wall-mounted electric towel rail at 42.450 KD.

Which one do you need?

What to check before buying

• Tarpaulins: pick the weight before the size. The 50 gsm sheet is the cheap one for covering something for a few days. The 200 gsm is the one to buy if it is going to sit in the sun and the wind. Both come in the same spread of sizes, and the price difference at 5 × 5 m is 2.250 KD against 6.750 KD.
• Measure the tarpaulin to the load, not to the floor. A sheet that just covers the top of a stack will lift. Go one size up so you have something to tie down.
• Exhaust fans: check the hole you already have. The two here are a 8" wall fan at 2.650 KD and a 6" centrifugal at 3.500 KD. Both are wall or window mounted, so the opening decides which one fits before anything else does. Both are down to the last few units, so call before coming in for one.
• Extension reels: count the distance, then add the corner. 25 m sounds long until the cable has to go round a doorway and down a step. Measure the route rather than the straight line.
• Butane canisters come in two sizes. 220 g at 0.950 KD and 230 g at 1.750 KD. Check which fitting your stove or torch takes before buying a box of either.
• Padlocks: 32, 38 or 50 mm. The number is the body width. A 32 mm lock suits a cupboard or a toolbox; 50 mm is the one for a gate or a store-room door where the shackle has to reach round a thicker hasp.

How much is a tarpaulin in Kuwait?

A 2 × 3 m sheet in 50 gsm is 1.000 KD and in 200 gsm it is 1.950 KD. At 5 × 5 m they are 2.250 KD and 6.750 KD, and the largest size, 15 × 15 m, is 15.750 KD in 50 gsm and 40.000 KD in 200 gsm. Twenty-nine sizes across the two weights.

Do you have exhaust fans for a bathroom or kitchen?

In this collection: an 8" 16 W wall fan at 2.650 KD and a 6" centrifugal 240 V fan with a grille at 3.500 KD. The 6" 16 W and 8" centrifugal versions are out, so please call or come in to check before travelling for one.

How much is a paper shredder?

The strip-cut shredder that takes five sheets, with a 10 L bin, is 12.000 KD. The cross-cut model with a 13 L bin at 15.500 KD is out of stock at the moment.

Can I buy one tarpaulin, or do I have to buy a bundle?

One is fine, in any of the 29 sizes. If you need a run of the same size for a site or a store, tell us the size and the count and we will quote it — we hold them in quantity.
